Evan Handler’s “It’s Only Temporary”

Evan Handler who appeared in “Sex and the City” admits to having had a cybersex addiction.  He has a book coming out in spring 2009 called, “It’s Only Temporary.” You can learn more about this by clicking on this link:

In an article posted at Sexualhealthconnection.com, the author states, “More and more people are putting themselves forward as sex addicts. Such is the extent of the problem that the Mayo clinic estimates up to 6 percent of adults in the United States are affected. The reason why some experts use the term ‘addiction’ or ‘compulsive sexual behavior’, is because the course and effects of the condition closely matches that of diseases such as alcoholism.”

Nothing Sexy about Sex Addiction

As sex addiction gets more talked about, it gets legitimized as a bona fide problem.  Courtney Kaminski writes a very smart article in the Brock Press entitled, “Nothing Sexy about Sex Addiction.  Here is an excerpt from the article: Sex Addiction Los Angeles

However, it is important to realize that there is a key difference between promiscuity and sexual addiction. Your roommate may be happy regaling you with stories about the casual sex she had last night, but for sex addicts the sex is not happy sex. Like any addiction the behaviour is merely the process to get to the big payoff at the end, which for sex addicts is the usually the release of chemicals in the brain that one experiences during climax.

Teenage Sexuality: Unprotected sex, STD’s, pregnancy and more

Teenage sexual exploration is a developmental task.  Hormones are surging, crushes come and go, bodies are changing, it’s an exciting time.  Given the natural process that all humans go through, it’s shocking that we have abdicated responsabililty for stewarding our young people through this transitional time.  With virtually no sex education in this country we leave kids on their own to get their sex education from one another and pornography. Sex Addiction Los Angeles

Recently, the Tyra Banks show created an anonymous survey for teenagers asking about sexual behaviors.  More then 10,000 teens and young women took the test.  You may be shocked to learn that the average girl looses her virginity at 15, often at school.  She also reports having unprotected sex, STD’s, using drugs, and engaging in physical violence.

We all need to take a stand for sex education in our schools and churches now!  To read the article click on the link below then click on the comment button and let us know what you think.

Eliot Spitzer Slapped on the Hand!

According to a Newsweek article, Eliot Spitzer will not be prosecuted for breaking the law for hiring prostitutes or for transporting women across state lines for the purpose of engaging them in sex for money.  Sex Addiction Los Angeles

The Department of Justice has reduced prostitution, and therefore exploitation of women, to a mere scandal.  Despite the fact that prostitution violates and harms women both emotionally and physically, Mr. Spitzer is being slapped on the hand.  Mr. Spitzer is quoted as saying that he feels like he’s paid for his “sin” implying it’s time to move on, and Alan Dershowitz is quoted as saying that it was “no big deal.”

Based on the depth and breadth of Mr. Spitzer’s actions and sexual behaviors, the loss of his position as Governor of New York state, and the wreckage he undoubtedly caused his family, my guess is that Mr. Spitzer is most likely a sex addict.  Because he simply “sinned,” he will sadly, never make it to treatment to face his problems.  This ruling by the DOJ sends a message to women thoughout the country that the “good ‘ole boys” club is alive and well.

As a woman, I am personally offended and incensed by this ruling.  As a citizenn, I find it irresponsible at best and unconscionable at worst.  It makes me wonder who paid whom and how deep does the prostitution ring in New York state go?

Sex slaves in the suburbs

On Sunday, October 13, 2008, MSNBC ran a special on “Sex Slaves in the Suburbs.”  They featured popular bars in Houston called cantania’s as well as massage parlors in San Francisco.

The cantania’s solicit women from El Salvador promising them factory or  restaurant jobs in the U.S. where they can make better money to support their families at home.  Sad to leave their families and children behind, but filled with hope for a better life, these women end up as sex slaves fighting for their lives.

In San Francisco, women are brought to the U.S. from Thailand with similar promises.  If you have ever gone to a massage parlor for a “sensual massage” then you most likely have been participating in the human sex trafficking trade.

Many sex addicts who frequent strip clubs or massage parlors tell themselves that they’re not hurting anyone, that prostitutes are making a living, or that hiring a prostitute is a victimless crime. Sex Addiction Los Angeles

Think again.  By hiring these women, you are most likely participating in human sex trafficking and violating innocent women in the worst way possible.  If you’ve ever hired a prostitute consider making amends by contributing to organizations that work to prevent the sex traffic trade. Click here to make a donation: http://www.klaaskids.org/s

If you hire prostitutes with any reqularity, consider you have a problem and get help immediately. Find a sex addiction therapist in your area: www.sash.net
